Meet Conference Speaker David Behen

EPCOR Payments Conference – Spring 2022 is happening next week in Columbus, Ohio and we are so excited to see our members in person! Over the last several weeks, we have introduced you to some of our speakers so you could learn more about their professional backgrounds and get to know them personally. The final speaker we are introducing is David Behen.

David Behen is the VP/CIO for La-Z-Boy Inc. La-Z-Boy is a global, publicly-traded $2BN company. At La-Z-Boy, David oversees all of the technology in the company’s retail, manufacturing and distribution business.

While this is David’s first EPCOR conference, he says “I look forward to talking with the attendees about the importance of cybersecurity and how they can protect their organizations, themselves and their families.” David also shared with us that this will be his third conference back in person following the pandemic and “as a people person, I enjoy being in person – especially when I am presenting – because it allows for me to see the reaction of the audience and allows more, easy flowing dialogue.”

During his session, Cybersecurity 101, David will discuss cybersecurity basics and the importance of focusing on education and awareness. David explained, “the session is meant to educate you about cybersecurity and put cybersecurity into plain language so everyone can understand the important aspects. I want to make this a fun, interactive discussion.”

If David could share one tip with payments professionals it would be: “Cybersecurity is a chronic condition, meaning it is not going away and it is important to put policies and procedures in place. My discussion will go into practical steps on how to protect yourself and your companies.”

On a personal level, David has been married for 23 years and has three beautiful children. He says, “they are what keep me grounded and get me excited about things every day.”
